The digital input/output module features the following mechanical characteristics:

  • Compact design:
    • Green LEDs for indicating the signal states on the inputs/outputs,
    • Plug-in option for the front connector
    • Labeling field on the front door
    • Connector pin assignment for the wiring on the inside of the front door.
  • Simple installation:
    There are no slot rules, the addresses of the outputs are determined by the slot.
    When used in ET 200M in combination with active bus modules, hot swapping is possible without any reaction.
  • User-friendly wiring

Function

The digital input/output modules convert

  • the level of the external digital signals from the process to the internal signal level of the controller and
  • the internal signal level of the controller to the external signal level required by the process.

The SM 327 is an additional finely scalable IO module. It has a total of 16 channels, whereby 8 channels are permanently defined and a further 8 channels can be used individually as inputs or outputs. This hybrid module can therefore be flexibly implemented for any combinations.
