SIEMENS SIMATIC Teleservice,Machines and plants are increasingly operated in places which are far away from the place of manufacture. Manufacturers of plants must nevertheless be able to provide support in the event of a fault. Especially during the warranty period this can result in high costs. TeleService helps to reduce this risk.

Teleservice via Internet

The possible applications for TeleService are manifold. Plants can be diagnosed, values set and programs or data transmitted from any place on earth via internet or telephone cable. TeleService contributes significantly to reduce travel and personnel costs for service calls and has therefore been a standard product in automation for a long time.

TeleService Software

TeleService is completely integrated into the TIA Portal!
The complete integration of the TeleService software (including telefone book for access management) into the TIA Portal allows you a convenient remote service of your automation components without hassle. You will be supported by funktion blocks to establish the remote access, remote connections or sending text messages or emails. With STEP 7 (Simatic Manager) you can use the TeleService software wit identical feature set and function blocks (except TeleService Adapter IE Advanced).

Application

With TeleService, remote servicing of SIMATIC S7 automation systems or HMI devices is possible using the programming device or PC over a fixed line/wireless network or via the Internet (TS Adapter IE Advanced). With the help of TeleService, the connection to the automation components is extended over the telephone network to the programming device or PC. The functions to be performed, such as programming, are completed using the same tools and functionality as if the job was being done locally. The user has access to the familiar functions of STEP 7 and the engineering tools, comparable to a local connection.

TeleService increases the effective availability of plants and machines. Access through TeleService means that technical services (e.g. maintenance, updating, and troubleshooting) can be performed cost-effectively from a central service center.

Apart from teleservice, a remote link to a programming device or PC can be established program-controlled using a function block call. This link allows process data to be exchanged between an S7 CPU and the programming device or PC with support from PRODAVE.

Functions

Remote maintenance
For remote maintenance a technician connects into a remote plant via internet or by telephone. TIA Portal or STEP 7 can be used to read status information or to correct the user program remotely.

Remote connection
Remote connections are used to transmit data from or to the automation system. TeleService supports program-controlled connection buildup between the programming device (PG) and automation system. Process data exchanges between several automation systems can also be coordinated. Three types of remote connection are possible

  • Remote connections to a plant which are initiated by a programming device or PC, for example, to transmit recipes to a remote plant or to transmit process or plant files for analysis or processing at a central office
  • Remote connections to the PG initiated by the plant
  • Remote connections between two plants for exchanging process data.

SIMATIC TeleService comprises the following coordinated components:

  • TeleService adapter with integral analog or ISDN modem, internet interface and/or serial interface for external modem, e.g. wireless modem
  • TeleService software with access data management, enabling user-friendly establishment of the connection to the automation components, eventually using function blocks for remote maintenance, remote link, and alarm via text message or fax.
